Because of its composition, Scientific Professional Cat Litter weighs one-seventh of the weight of traditional cat litters (2.5lbs works like 17.5lbs of traditional clay litter). Scientific Professional Cat Litter is environmentally friendly and does not contain any sodium bentonite. Traditional clay-based cat litter contains sodium bentonite as the clumping agent. Once sodium bentonite clumps, it gains the consistency of cement. This presents a number of problems.
