Well Beings > About Us
My husband Jeffery and I adopted our first dog, Doodle in April 2003. Doodle then was a 16 year old Shepard/Doberman mix whose mom was forced to give up her lifelong companion to a local Humane Society after becoming homeless. I first saw Doodle on the shelters' website and her sad soulful look made me click on the "find out more" button. It was then that I read her heartbreaking story and knew we had to adopt her and give her the best life we could for her remaining time.
In the fall of 2003 Doodle was diagnosed with an oral tumor that was surgically removed, only to grow back bigger and faster leading to a second surgery in February 2004. Our vet gave us a poor prognosis for Doodle. The cancer had metastasized into the bone and we would be faced with euthanasia when the tumor returned. Jeffery and I could not accept that our sweet, happy, running and leaping dog who had a second lease on life would have to die because of a growth in her mouth. It was then that we contacted a local Holistic Veterinarian, Dr. Tamara Hebbler. Through her care and expertise and our dedication to saving Doodle we learned about the many beneficial treatments available and began our journey into natural healing.
Doodle turned 18 years old on December 23, 2005. She had been cancer free since the spring of 2004. Though she was really creaky and had lost a lot of weight, she continued to amaze us with her unbelievabe will to live. Her all time favorite was roasted chicken, although we routinely gave her combinations of raw meat/bones/veggies/fruit mixed with home-cooked meats. We did our best to make her as comfortable as we could.
Our sweet precious Doodle passed away of old age on April 9, 2006, three years to the very day we brought her home with us. We had 3 amazing and blessed years with her and she died naturally snuggled between my husband and I in our bed. We cherish every moment we had with her and think of her today and always. Until we meet again.....
Doodle was a truly unique and special girl.
In loving memory: December 23, 1988 - April 9, 2006
Though all our animals (5 cats and 3 dogs) give us inspiration every day, it was our Doodle bug who led us to want to share the benefits of natural healing with other pet owners to help their animals live long and healthy lives.
